A painting of Claire Bennet sold for over $8000.00 last month - yes, that's EIGHT THOUSAND plus dollars!
It was sold through an NBC Universal auction and bidding appears to have started at $100.00.
The winning bid was $8 365.00 by a bidder called "britishcitizen"
At one point, a bidder named 'hrg' bid one thousand dollars, then $3500.00 later on, too, but 'britishcitizen' waited until bidding was up over $6000 and then got into the game!
You can take a look at how the bidding went - and also check out which picture of Claire Bennet sold through the auction:
My Pendant came in a couple of weeks ago from NBC Universal.
It's a nice one and I've had several comments on it. A few people have asked me to order one for them, and I'll get right on that
Most people who have commented have also said they can't believe I watch a show like Heroes...because it contains a lot of fantasy...
Whoops - so sorry - I will have to hide my school books on "Plato" better, so that people don't think that I ONLY think about serious topics. Heck - that's schoolwork.
Anyhow, since I finally found the link, I thought I'd mention that the NBC Universal store has great Godsend/Helix pendants and that I've already ordered and received mine.
So, after the big debate about 'good show,' 'bad show,' from a few weeks bad, do you think that HEROES storylines are improving?
Do you like what's going on now with Hiro?
Are you satisfied with changes the writers have been making to improve the show?
Episodes 9-11, "Cautionary Tales," "Truth & Consequences," and the most recent, "Powerless," have exibited a LOT of shifts.
Which of these has been your favorite episode?
(Truth and Consequences is supposed to have the appropriate 'ampersand' character in the title, but the blogger format wont' accept the ampersand in the 'keywords' area of the post...just a warning for those doing keyword SEO stuff)
I'm still pondering over what's happening in Season Two...
Though I DO like the changes that I've seen Kring and Crew apply to the show in the past two weeks, I'll reserve judgment on the show, as a whole until later this week.
Truthfully...I missed the first half of the last show *hanging head low* Yes, it's true. The Canadian Heroes FANATIC, Teeray (me) actually MISSED part of a show...
I will catch up on viewing the most recent episode and then comment on it by the weekend.
What I did see...FREAKED ME OUT!
What the freakin' H--- was MAYA doing with SYLAR?
Again, for a SECOND WEEK in a row...I am in denial...
I did NOT see Maya smooching Sylar...
No, no, no...that just did NOT happen...I closed my eyes and that vision went away!
:)
It exists only as a scant remnant of my imagination now...I am going to close my eyes during that portion of the show once I locate the best online viewing source for Heroes this week!
One part that I DO REMEMBER from the show and will verify, along with a 'thumbsup'.....
*cheering* YAY, Claire! Way to tell that freaky, disturbed Elle right off, my fine cheerleader friend! I really LIKED WHAT I SAW.....Claire has really got some 'umph' going for her at this point.
Tim Kring admits that he and the crew that produce the Heroes series had taught viewers what to expect. This happened from the way that they organized and delivered Season One.
The current Season Two, so far, has moved away from whatever format that was used for the first season and, frankly, (some) viewers don't like the current format. Viewers have spoken out, SPOKEN LOUDLY, so Tim Kring and his series-making crew have heard the message.
Tim gave some interviews in the first week of November and made promises to fans that the show will change and viewers will get what they want!
Things that viewers liked so far: Kristen Bell - The way Kristen's character, Elle, was introduced right into the "Peter" storyline.
That's it...that's all, according to the TVNEWS article, that fans liked so far in Season Two.
Criticisms:
*New Heroes, Monica (Dana Davis), and Maya (Dania Ramirez) with Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz), were introduced in such separate storylines that they seemed unattached to the show.
* Love...it stinks! Viewers don't like the cheesy 'love' bits and don't buy these for one minute!
* Main "issue" of the series was held off way too long. Viewers wanted to know RIGHT AWAY - what are our Heroes collectively fighting for this season? This issue (Peter's 'vision') wasn't brought forth until episode 7 and viewers thought this was way too long to find out what kind of mission our Heroes needed to organize themselves for.
*Get Hiro OUT OF JAPAN! For a time-bending Hero, it's not plausible for Hiro to just be in Japan for over more than 2 or 3 episodes. In the first season, we see Hiro jump from present-Japan, all over the place, and even into the future! Why does he get stuck in Ancient Japan in season two? Sorry, not a good place for Hiro to be for so long.
Heroes Season Two Episode Six, called "The Line" Just aired last night. If you missed the episode and you're in the USA, you can catch it at the NBC site:
"Sometimes we have to do bad things... ...don't disappoint me, Suresh." (Even before the first commercial break!)
Whoa - Sylar has already made a rift in between the siblings, Maya and Alejandro! Maya wants Sylar's help still - to find Suresh. Alejandro wants to ditch Sylar as soon as possible because Alejandro KNOWS that Sylar is dangerous...
What does Sylar want?
He said it quite plainly to Alejandro...he wants to kill and take the extraordinary powers from the siblings...
Check out the synchronized fight scenes with Matt and Nathan. This was really well orchestrated!
New character, Monica, is also using her fists in this episode - watch for the excellent Bruce Lee moves. (There's also a cool movie clip shown of Bruce Lee...Monica is watching it on TV in this episode).
Let me know what you think. (Don't forget - there's chat software on the blog)
If you've been watching Heroes on NBC TV for a while and particularly, from the very start of Season One, you'll remember that viewers didn't know the identity of one of the characters.
This continued for a while...there was a character that viewers could only partially see. The visible part of the character - a man, was the side of his face and a distinctly identifiable pair of Horn Rimmed Glasses...
Here's an article I wrote about the character, HRG, Horn Rimmed Glasses.
I have been thinking about HRG for a whole season - and I came up with a theory about the 'utility' of the Horn Rimmed Glasses character in thr future. I wrote the "Horn Rimmed Glasses" article over at HubPages (link above).
Don't forget to tune in to NBC TVs fourth episode of the second tonight!
I'm curious as to what Sylar's going to be up to tonight. Is he just gonna start stalking Heroes and killing everyone he thinks has extraordinary abilities - like he did in Season One?
I'm not sure what to think of Maya yet, but maybe after tonight's episode I'll know better.
I realize that Season Two is well under way and we're heading into episode #4 tomorrow night already, but many people are just tuning in who missed last season. Some people are a little confused as to the characters (there are so many!).
Here's something that might help. I've created some lenses all about the Heroes characters and many complimentary lenses about the actors/actresses who play Heroes roles on the NBC TV show:
Admittedly, this list is incomplete, but I hope it will be helpful. I will continue to update over the next week. I have about 6 more lenses 'almost' finished.
Check back soon - I'll post the lenses as quickly as I am able
* Note - scroll down the page a bit to view the artworks by Ratscape. The page sort of looks like there's nothing on it (the left-hand sidebar is really full) - but there is - just scroll.
Currently, there are pieces depicting:
* "Sylar The Craver"
* "Peter The GodSend"
* "Aerodynamic Nathan"
* "Schizo Niki"
* "Timebender Hiro"
and
* "Indestructible Claire"
I'm sure you'll enjoy the art, if you're a Heroes fan!
I just read an interesting interview where Tim Kring speaks out about what's in store for Heroes Season Two.
Basically, he says to face facts:
There are limited numbers of truly COOL 'superpowers' or abilities. The rest are variations upon certain powers.
In season two, Kring focuses on showing viewers that these EXTRAORDINARY abilities are becoming known to people ALL OVER THE WORLD, so naturally, Kring can't INVENT brand new abililties for everyone he brings into the show!
OF COURSE - there will be characters who have similar or same abilities...no rocket science here. There can't be only one person in the HEROES world with the extraordinary ability to fly or be invisible or heal or whatever... particularly if more characters are going to show up and cast/Heroes numbers rise.
So - don't be tuning in looking for more special effects designed to highlight new abilities that you've never seen before...instead look for how the Heroes find new ways to use their abilities!
Besides - the character interaction and what the characters DO with their powers are what will be important in Season Two (Generations).
After all - don't we all want to know how the people USE their powers and cope with the fact that they have extraordinary abilities? This is what is important.
For instance - in Season One (Origins) I thought that Nathan was a jerk for a long time. He never did anything wonderful with his abilities, he never helped anyone out via use of his extraordinary powers, now did he? Not for a lonnnnnng time, he didn't!
While other characters began to use their abilities to help others, Nathan just sat around KNOWING that he could fly!
Even Peter was TRYING TO USE abilities for the good of others during a time when he didn't even KNOW what abilities he possessed. Hiro, of course, is all about helping others...
"Save the cheerleader, save the world" is this not the mantra that both Hiro and Peter use all throughout Season One? And THIS is more important than the special effects or television effects of any abilities...
Kring hints that some of the Heroes characters are going to fall back on old ways, so we're not going to see everything we want to see this season. Obviously, most people want to see Heroes using their abilities to the utmost potential and for the good of all mankind...ultimately, this is what Heroes are supposed to do, right?
Well - it's not going to happen right away in Season Two of the Heroes season. ("he he he" said the HEROESblogger gal)
Tim Kring doesn't actually give out too many facts in this interview, found at the Can Mag .com website, but what he does tell are a few hints that will keep viewers TUNED IN.
I don't want to over-extend comments here about the interview because who could explain this stuff better than creator of Heroes, Tim Kring himself?
The Interview is Titled "Tim Kring Talks - Heroes Season Two"
The interview is from September 13, which occurred 11 days before the season opener show, so you'll note that Tim drops some hints but keeps a pretty tight lip on scenarios, characters and plot development.
It's a good interview to check out - now that the first Heroes show of Season Two has recenly come to air (last night). You can compare what Tim said on September 13th with what you saw on last night's Heroes episode!

The Heroes sci-fi, drama re-run tonight was the episode called "How To Stop An Exploding Man."
Apparently, at the end of the season, quite a few people gave this episode some negative votes. Some people thought that this season wrap-up episode was 'disappointing,' and that the wrap-up show could have been more exciting, with more flash'n'flair.
(Some people will always complain, eh?)
In my view, it was an enjoyable episode and I'm glad I have been able to watch it again on re-run. Now, I should be all caught up with the storyline before next week, when Season Two begins.
In the final moments of the eposide, How To Stop An Exploding Man, there is a final confrontation between some of the Heroes against Sylar.
In the end, a good old-fashioned fist fight is what Peter uses to drop Sylar to the ground - even though just moments before, Matt's bullets couldn't even take Sylar down.
*ouch*@Matt - who fell for the old 'frozen bullets-richochet-back' trick, perhaps one of the older tricks in the sci-fi book!
I can't wait 'til next week, when Heroes, Season Two "Generations" begins. I want to see if Matt is okay!
Speaking of 'frozen bullets' - I just remembered an awesome Korn video where the lead singer is able to freeze a runaway bullet before it strikes him - and then he sends the bullet back on a reverse path.
Originally, I had posted the embedded video here. When I checked the post and video to see that it was working - DOH! - It hit me that Korn's lyrics are questionable in parts of this 'Freak On A Leash' song.
Obviously with the 'F' word in the lyrics, I can't allow the video on blogger space, but don't worry...

I would love to hear some of your Heroes Theories and hear about what you thought of Season One before NBC TV launches Season Two. It would be great to chat with Heroes fans and refresh my memory about Season One so that I can be ready when Season Two is ready to roll.
I'll have my website up and running by September 15 (www.teeray.com), and will dedicate some space to Heroes comments and details, but until the site is ready, I'd still like to hear from you.
Just log in, look for 'teeray' and send me a message. I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Also - if you're keeping a Heroes blog yourself, let me know if you'd like to link up with me. I'd be happy to send some visitors your way if I get a chance to visit your blog. Send me your blog link for review through Yuwie. I will also comment from inside the Yuwie site, so you'll have a couple of links sending viewers your way.
Have fun at the NBC TV site. Check out the Heroes Interactive Novel. It's awesome.
There are actually two parts, but I'll place the link for the first part separately from the 2nd, and give you time to go test it out and see what you think.
I'm watching the Heroes re-run, which is a good thing because so much happened in the first season, so many details are spun around in flashbacks and just plain flashing, that the re-runs remind me of a lot of things that I had forgotten.
Like - where the Hatian came from - and why he's always around Claire's dad...
I'll be back soon - the episode is about half over and I'm waiting for the Hatian to appear. He's just a little boy in this episode - the flashback is from 14 years before all the Heroes start to notice their extraordinary abilities...
Okay - I'm back during commercial break - Man, Claire is taking a beating, eh?
I don't want to talk about the show - there are some rockin' TV Commercials on - not really interesting to 'view' but excellent MUSIC!
Oh - and YAY CANADIAN company - a TIM HORTON's commercial - reminds me that I still have some decaf coffee around here to grab while the break is still on....
*dash*
========================== Watching Episode
Hmmm - Claire's mom is kind of dumb in 'present day' but I know we are going to find out why her mind doesn't work very well...it's from something that happened 14 years back with the Hatian, eh?
*watching*
Gosh - Ted is SO UNSTABLE. What an angry guy - serious anger management issues, huh?
Whoa - in walks the 'present day' Hatian - he's a pretty big guy. (Claire's Mom grabs the pooch - yay - Claire's MOM IS even a HERO!! She just saved the family dog from Ted!! Wooooooo Hoooooo. She might be a li'l 'off' in the head but she has her priorities set right! Got the kids, grabbed the poosh - left the hubby bad-guy behind lmao).
Wow, Ted's personality kinda lights up the whole house, eh? haha
NO CLAIRE - don't go back in the house - leave Ted in there!! No NO NOOOO!
Holy PYROMANIA Batman!! What a fire!
Sadly, Ted's anger management is not working....
*BOOM*
Claire has taken a total beating - MAN! She looks AWFUL - (Horror Movie scene of Claire's burnt self walking out of the burning house - GROSS!).
Again - neat tunes - anyone like that Subaru Impressa commercial "The Japanese Car the Germans Wish They'd Made" with the 'Rock Me Amadeus' track on it? Takes ya back to the '80's!
Arby's commercial making me hungry.
The Source! More cool tunes. The Source by Circuit City advertising Bluetooth Phones. Who needs one?
Back to the show...but I can't type and watch at the same time anymore - things are getting interesting (and complicated - a lot of rapid sequences of flashbacks) ========================== Watching the show ========================== The ending had me a bit teary-eyed as Claire's dad and Claire were separated necessarily by the Hatian. I'll be back a bit later once I dry my eyes.
Are your friends calling you a stick-in-the-mud because you won't go out with them on Monday nights?
What the heck is so special about going out on Monday nights, anyway?
I think that more likely, people are at home most Monday evenings, which is a good thing because then they won't miss episodes of Heroes!
I know the new season hasn't quite started yet, but it's going to be easy to 'follow routine' now that I have been watching the re-runs. Not much will change - just brand new episodes for season two, starting on September 24th!
Oh, hey! Did you order your Heroes DVD's? They were already on sale as of August 28th, so I'll bet that a lot of people are still waiting for their package to arrive. Once they arrive, I can imagine that a lot of Heroes fans will be sitting down to watch marathon-hours of Heroes episodes, one by one.
For those who are still waiting for their Heroes Season One DVD package to arrive, don't worry, you can still watch Heroes tonight - even if your package doesn't get to you by this evening. I know I know, it's a re-run - but what are you going to watch when those DVDs get to your door?
You'll be watching the same thing that I'm going to watch tonight - a Heroes episode!
Has anyone figured out that big Hatian dude yet?
I'm going to have to go over to the NBC website today and check out the 'Theories' threads because none of my closeby friends have been watching the show, and nobody really has any theories to chat about over here among my circle of pals.
I hope Season Two will be different. A few of my pals are going to start watching this season, so we'll be able to bat some theory ideas around over here.
Heroes seems to be a much bigger deal over in America - go figure - it's an American show.
I can't believe the show isn't more popular here - in Canada - land of comic book hero creators.
Superman and Spiderman originated from Canada, for gosh sake! Yeah, that's right. Superman was created by Canadian, Joe Schuster and pal, Jerry Siegel (American). Then Jerry made Superman defect to the United States grrrrr! Steve Ditko and Stan Lee created Superman in the 60's. Far out and Groovy!
Hey wait a minute...Nathan from Heroes has 'Superman' powers. The leaping into the air and the flying look all too familiar, don't they? Maybe Nathan is inherently Canadian, eh? Maybe there are things we still don't know about Nathan. Maybe Nathan was really born in Canada, eh?
This is probably a stupid theory - but ya never know. Maybe Nathan is not really American and that is why he is 'different.' Maybe he got his superpowers from being born in Canada, close to where Peter Parker/Spiderman was created. Maybe Nathan lived by the farm where Superman's parents used to live and Superman taught him some tricks. Hmmm
Things that make you say 'Hmmm'
Okay - so - wishful thinking.
I'm off to go read some Theories now. Maybe some hints will be in the Theories.
I believe that Heroes creators are on to something BIG here! Is there a chance that, by having all the great Heroes charactors mirror Mental Illness symptoms, they could help dispell social constructions and stigma about Mental Illness?
Social Construction (copied from Wikipedia)
"A social construction or social construct is any institutionalized entity or artifact in a social system "invented" or "constructed" by participants in a particular culture or society that exists because people agree to behave as if it exists or follow certain conventional rules. One example of a social construct is social status."
The NEGATIVE beliefs about Mental Illness exist because SOCIETY ALLOWS the Negative beliefs to exist. Society agrees to behave as if Mental Illness is unnatural, weird, awful, dangerous, sometimes frightening, and not acceptable.
The Truth:
Mental illness is a regular, existing condition in society. It is widespread and 'COMMON' - very, VERY COMMON!
People who suffer from Mental Illness are often treated as if they are unnatural, weird, awful, dangers, frightening, and not acceptable.
The Truth:
People who suffer from Mental Illness are NORMAL PEOPLE who have an extraordinary health condition which requires attention and management.
If we keep treating people with Mental Illnesses as awful, unnatural, dangerous, frightening and not acceptable, we are actually treating REAL PEOPLE badly! If we keep treating real people who have Mental Illnesses badly, how will we ever function better?
Maybe Niki is the answer, in part, to showing society that a 'Disordered Personality' has a great, great many uses and abilities.
Niki has E X T R A O R D I N A R Y A B I L I T I E S !!
Does she not?
Doesn't everyone?
What is YOUR extraordinary ability?
Better yet - do you suffer from Mental Illness? What's your extraordinary health condition?
Would you be a candidate for the NBC TV show, HEROES? Would your Mental Illness transform into an awesome SUPERPOWER?
GO NIKI!
Do you think the creators of Heroes on NBC will try to make Niki 'integrate' Jessica into herself?
Do you think that Niki will further 'fragment' and become more personalities?
I'm sure that many people have noticed little quirks of the Heroes characters, which, in real life, might indicate odd psychological problems.
* Niki = MPD/Multiple Personality Disorder, Alcoholism * Sylar = OCD/Obssessive Compulsive Disorder * Claire = Self-Harming Behaviors * Isaac = Multiple Addictions * Peter = Self Esteem issues, leading to Self-Sabotage Syndrome * Nathan = Fear of Intimacy and Relationships, emotional detachment * Hiro = General Reality Perception issues * Matt = Self Esteem issues, Self-Fullfilling (low achievement) behaviors * Mohinder = Self-Esteem issues (2nd Child Syndrome) and unresolved Childhood Trauma surrounding the loss of his sister.
Most exhibit signs and behaviors related to low self-esteem, narcissism, some anti-social quirks and other behaviors that people with Mental Illness or Mental Disorders display.
Okay, I am about 're-run-ned' out now. I watched a re-run of the Heroes Re-Run!
I can't believe that I wasn't more confused the FIRST TIME I watched that, 'cos BOY, does that episode ever back-track, flashback and jump around.
I found myself still hoping that Hiro would keep time-jumping around to save Charlie. I felt very frustrated for Hiro when he ended up back in Japan in the middle of the field where people were exercising. Poor Hiro - totally stuck, eh? Just seconds after Charlie told him about her limited time left to live.
If Hiro hadn't have gotten stuck, I know he would have kept time-travelling until he found a way to save Charlie, perhaps go back far enough to find out what caused her health problem or something.
Anyway - I think that I HEROED myself out a little bit. That was just a really freaky episode, don't you think? It's the episode, also, where the viewers find out a LOT about Sylar - that dirty, deranged RAT!
Whoops, maybe I'm not HERO-ed out yet. Maybe I will go watch the episode where the Hatian renders Sylar unconscious! That might make me feel better about Sylar, anyway.
That might hold me over until next week's Re-Run.
There should only be a couple more re-run episodes to watch until the next season of Heroes on NBC-TV starts!
I wonder if Claire will have to go to school in season two. I'm not sure how she can go to her old school when people are searching for her, but since the show is about the U.S.A., using American locations, won't the writers have to put Claire in school? I know that America really pushes for teens to finish their high school classes, so I hope that Heroes episodes will continue to promote this American ideal.
Maybe nobody else has worried about this. I have wondered about it, because there are so many American viewers of the Heroes television show that some of the characters are probably role models for teens, right? It wouldn't be a very good idea to have Claire not in school now, would it? Not when the first show of the season is only a week or two after real-time school in the USA starts, right?
I wonder if the writers of Heroes will overlook this completely or not. I guess I will have to wait and see.
I am a CHRONIC, chronic Heroes fan now. I already watched the re-run episode of Heroes last night. Unfortunately, I was a little sleepy for the Episode "Six Months Ago," so I taped the show on my clunky li'l VCR and I'm going to watch it AGAIN later tonight.
Yep - you read that right!
I am going to watch a re-run of the re-run, Heroes Episode called, SIX MONTHS AGO, because - frankly - a LOT of stuff happened at the Burnt Toast Diner and at other locations last night. I was getting sleepy, so everything was all the more confusing!
KUDOS to NBC and the writers and cast - I am actually going to view this episode ONE MORE TIME because it is still making questions pop up in my head - even though I have already viewed the entire Season One of the series!
I'm off for supper out with friends and then I'm coming back to watch SIX MONTHS AGO.
Like a lot of people, I have never really looked forward to Mondays. This particular day of the week used to be a real 'groaner' for me. Rather, my attitude about Mondays used to be pretty bad, as I crawled out of my relaxing, lowered-stress weekend, and into full-fledged activities for the work/school week.
Now that I've started watching Heroes on Monday nights, my attitude about Mondays has really changed a lot! Now, I look forward to Mondays very much, because I can feel like I am 'rewarded' for getting through the day, completing errands, work, classes, etc.
Okay, so how much does this suck? You can no longer view Heroes Season One episodes from the NBC TV site!
Now, you have to order the DVD set, available August 28 2007.
You can pre-order right away from Amazon, if you're in a real hurry. There are links on the sidebar here.
Don't worry - the NBC TV website has notifications that Season Two episodes will be available in the same way as Season One previously was, just a short time ago. All we have to do is be patient and wait...
Not so easy to do, eh?
NBC TV will have Season Two episodes online for viewing from their site - at the appropriate time, of course and NBC will be keeping up with their 'interviews' and other on-site attractions, too.
By the way, in case you missed this, Heroes Season Two begins September 24 2007, so we all have about a month to wait.
I'll be watching re-runs on Monday night 'til September 24th. That ought to keep me busy.
Watching Heroes on an actual Television set was pretty cool for a change on Monday night! Heck, I was even able to make some popcorn during one of the LONG commercial breaks and enjoy snacks while watching the show. No worries about getting butter-fingers on the keyboard! LOL
So I noticed something that was said a few times in Heroes Episode #9 (Homecoming), and I'm a little worried about it. I'm worried about Ando, people.
(Yes, I have suspended my reality and am pretending that I have NOT seen all the episodes of the season already. Just trying to take 1 Episode and keep it in its own context here)
Ando says something in kind of a forlorn way, which mirrors exactly something that Peter says about not really being special without others around. Peter says this, and then Ando admits that he isn't really anything special, either, without Hiro.
Hmmmm
With Peter - well, okay, he has acted very nutty in Heroes episodes 1-9, so a 'self-limiting' statement like he made seemed quite natural.
With Ando, however, here we have a guy who is taken from a good job and plunged into the chaos of North America, and he meets up with Peter, only to say basically,
"I am only special with Hiro around." (Not an exact quote, but essentially, this is the statement).
Do you think that Ando is co-dependent and too dependent on Hiro in order to define 'who he is'?
We can already TELL THAT PETER is a little loopy, and we don't wonder why too much. We already know it's the 'little brother in the shadows of high-profile older brother' kind of scenario going on with Peter.
With Ando, however, he seemed like the 'voice of reason,' in clips before he and Hiro got to New York. We, as viewers, mainly got the impression of Ando as a pretty grounded, secure guy who knew his place and who functioned objectively in the world. He seemed to be the stable, reasonable piece of reality standing beside Hiro's excitable, fantasty-obsessed character.
Do you think that 'discomfort' has made Ando co-dependent with Hiro? That is, the discomfort of new perspectives and a new location, has made Ando unable to figure out who he is by Episode #9? No longer can he think of himself as a 'stable,' 'objective,' and reasonably grounded individual, like he was back home.
In America, Ando can only be Hiro's side-kick? In America, Ando relies on what Hiro says, what Hiro does, in order to know his new, America-situated self?
When Peter says something like, "I kind of absorb the powers of other people," then Ando follows with a statement, "I'm not really anyone either." For Peter, he mentions a limit of what he can do or not do, as far as actions. For Ando, his statement is about 'self.'
Hey, I'm sittin' back tonight, watching a RE-RUN of HEROES! (HOMECOMING EPISODE #9)
Wow, it's sure nice to see the episode on a real TELEVISION set. I don't even mind the commercial breaks. They give me time to jump up and refresh my drink.
What do you drink while you're watching re-run episodes of Heroes from NBC TV?
I'm kicked back, relaxing, having an iced tea.
Believe it or not, I watched every single one of the episodes so far on the Internet. At mostly the same sites I provided links for on the blog. I had to wait for 'buffering' time for each episode and really 'plan' to watch, because online viewing isn't nearly as smooth as watching TV.
Anyhow - I'm actually on a commercial break and the show just came back on, so I'm gonna jett for a bit, and watch the show.
Are you guilty of watching re-runs of Heroes, too?
* Ando hanging out with Future Hiro is not a good idea. Nobody is getting anything done.
* Sylar, Sylar, Sylar.
* Yay! Five Years in the Future, Claire is going to get married! (Sorry guys, it's true - she even asks her boyfriend to ELOPE and NOT have the big, expensive wedding! What a gal!)
* I still DO NOT LIKE SYLAR!
* More good cop, bad cop - mostly very, very bad cop!
* Ando meets up with someone in the future who is very, VERY surprised to see him - because Ando is supposed to be dead 5 years into the future hmm...I saw it right - it's definitely ANDO in the future. What shocking news for him, eh?
* Issac's apartment is STILL THERE, 5 years in the future - but I didn't see Isaac at all. Wow, his apartment is a real mess. What's up with Isaac's apartment - people still insist on visiting there, uninvited. Everyone ends up at Isaac's - what a crappy host - he's nowhere to be seen.
The "Ouou" site plays quite well, however, a warning: DO NOT click the 'pause' button. Sometimes this will make the video stop and re-start from the beginning of the video.
Usually - if I absolutely have to 'pause' the video, I click on-screen. This usually pauses the video without making the video re-start from the beginning.
Just click again on-screen to let the video finish running when you're ready.
Commentary:
* Hmm .07% of something is expendible...
* Point zero seven percent of something is a good strategy and a fair loss...

* Isaac should lock his darned door - and get a new apartment. All the bad guys know where Isaac lives. How is he ever going to finish painting with people showing up all the time?
* Claire displays some kick-a** common-sense, which EVERYONE ELSE MISSED... Oh, let's see. What is this glass doing here?
DOH!

* That is NOT your wife, Mr. Company Man.
* ummm - Claire - be careful if you go inside there.
* OMG - Peter! I am sooooooooo worried about Peter - but the show ENDED!
The line I remember most:
"Now I am not going to share my pot-pie with you." (Linderman)
Or - it's a toss up between what Linderman said and Peter's "Ahhhhhhhhhh, Ohhhhhhh."
Needless to day, Peter is in excruciating pain. Or painfully dying.
If you've missed a few episodes, this is the one to catch up on - if you can't get to the others until later. This is an excellent episode. You'll find out A LOT about some of the character motivations.
I daresay, one character that I intensely disliked before this episode...well, I'm a little more lenient about now...
If you're an American Fan of the NBC TV series "HEROES" - you can watch past episodes over at the NBC TV site. Here's where you can access Heroes - Episode 16 - "Unexpected": (links open in new window)
If you cannot access the American viewing site, don't worry - TV Links out of the UK has links for the episodes. It outlinks to "Ouou" which has been a very reliable site.
International viewers can access Heroes - Episode 12 - "The Fix" at TV Links (UK). This is out-linked to the "Ouou" site, which works fine. Just let the video buffer a bit.
And here's where International viewers should be able to catch up on Heroes - Episode 12 - "Godsend" over at TV Links (UK site - combined with "OUOU" site)
The TV Links site works okay. Just watched part of this episode earlier today (works best in 'flock' browser or firefox). It's a link through the TV Links (UK) site.
Remember - only those living in the US are able to view the NBC TV episodes.
The site where I just watched this episode last week - is not displaying the episode 11 link at the moment, so I will check back later and update the blog once the links are working again.
Do You Want To Win The Simpsons Movie Contest? I DO! So I'm entering the official The Simpsons Movie Contest as soon as I finish posting. More Information - The Simpsons Movie Contest (opens in new window)
Fox TV and Opera launched The Simpsons Movie Contest last week. It started July 13th and runs until July 27th! That means there are 7 more days that Fox and Opera will take entries for this contest.
July 27th is the day that The Simpsons Movie will premier! A winning entry from The Simpsons Movie Contest will be announced on premier day!
I have one more email to send out about this contest, so I'm logging out of the blog now - but I'll be back.
My studies have finished and yesterday I just got back to check on the blog. I realize that most of the videos are now not working. Sorry about this. I did some hunting and researching yesterday and have found a site that has full episodes for legal viewing, but I'm still testing it out. I have many errands today but by this evening I will start cleaning up the blog, posting 'commentary' and summaries, finding 'viewing' links to direct readers and viewers to.
Try a Peekvid account to watch Heroes at PeekVid: Peekvid Site
Now, Peekvid hasn't had many episodes submitted by members, but this might change, so it would be a good idea to bookmark the site. You actually do not have to gain memberships to the site in order to watch TV shows at Peekvid, but I'm sure this will change as the site grows.
We start off with a fast-tracked introduction to the Heroes characters in Episode One, that's for sure.
Here's our main cast of characters:
Peter and Nathan Petrelli. Brothers, and respectively, "The Dreamer" and the "--" guy who.....wait 'til the commentary, or your fun will be spoiled!)
Charles Devereaux - Peter's patient and father of our next cast member,
Simone Devereaux - Charles' daughter and the gal with whom Peter has a chronic crush on! Simone, however, is already dating our next character,
Isaac Mendez - "The Artist/The Painter" and everyone's favourite li'l Heroin addict. Isaac paints the future...or, has really excellent atypically busy Herion trips.
Mohinder Suresh is "The Seeker" who is always talking about the 'future world.'
Niki Sanders and Micah Sanders. "The Single Mother" with her son, but that's not all that Niki is...she's also a hmmmm well she makes her living by taking her clothes off, so don't tell Micah - he's too young to be told 'bout all of that! Micah is a 'gifted child' but we don't quite get to see how smart he really is in this first episode. He's a darn cute kid tho'!
Claire Bennet - "The Cheerleader" - and her camera-toting sidekick, Zach "Who doesn't have a cool name to put in quotations." Claire is strangely masochistic and keeps harming herself over and over again while she coaxes Zach to film her escapades. Man, I hope this isn't a love-match - these two are NOT healthy for each other at all!
Hiro Nakamura and Ando Masahashi, "The Clock Puncher" and "also has no cool name to go in quotations."
There are assorted 'other' cast characters, but these above are our HEROES!
Okay - so here's what happened in this opening episode:
Peter Petrelli, a homecare nurse - "The Dreamer" - keeps dreaming of flying. After one such airbourne dream, he wakes up beside patient, Charles Deveaux who is in a coma!
Nathan Petrelli is Peter's older brother. Now, Nathan is running for congress in New York city and doesn't have time for Peter's silly notions about flying! Nathan keeps minimizing Peter's talk about flying...
(insert extra cast character who is not a HERO.) Nathan and Peter have to go collect their mother who was caught shoplifting (socks of all things). She tells Peter, "I wanted to feel alive again."
Peter slips up and lets Simone know he's thinking of her - while they are tending to Charles Devereaux by his bedside.
Simone, however, is going out with Isaac. During a visit with Isaac, he freaks out on her and kicks her out but not before telling her that the picture he painted 3 weeks ago was of the terrible traffic accident that was just broadcast on the news TODAY!
Isaac is a Heroin addict and wants to try to get off the drugs 'cold turkey.' He and Simone argue and he kicks her out of his apartment... He claims that he "Paints the Future" and this really drives him nutty. When Simone returns to Isaac's apartment later with Peter in tow, they find that Isaac has overdosed. Simone and Peter faintly hear him say, "We have to stop it........we have to stop it."
Peter notices a painting in the apartment of himself - Peter - Flying! He sees an horrific picture, as well - of New York in flames, exploding, blowing right up all over the place! (This is where we hear "We have to stop it--")
Mohinder Suresh, "The Seeker" is a very intense guy and is always talking about the future of the world and about evolution. He is informed of his father's sudden death and travels to New York to find out more details about the death. His father was driving taxi in New York and was killed by a thief.
Mohinder comes upon a stranger, an intruder who is, messing around and snooping through his late father's research materials.
(Insert - Other order of events but this is as simple as I can make the account of this episode)
When we see Suresh next, he is in his late father's taxicab and picks Peter up as 'a fare.' He and Peter talk about genetics and evolution. Then Mohinder drives a different man around for a while. This man is hard to determine from his place in the back seat but viewers can see his big glasses. (He's kind of like 'the big glasses guy' in the way that X-Files had the mysterious "smoking man" Muhahaha!)
The Big Glasses man is the same guy who was at Chandra's apartment before....
Whoa - who is Chandra? Heck I dunno - there are so many people in this show... lol
The Big Glasses Man asks Mohinder a lot of strange questions about Mohinder's job, life and research until Mohinder finally is creeped out enough to pull the cab to a screeching halt, jump out and RUN!
RUN Mohinder RUN!
Run from that Big Eyeglasses Guy!
We learn in the first episode that Niki Sanders' son, Micah is a really smart child who Niki has been tryin to position into a very snotty, expensive academic program for 'gifted' students. Niki earns her living outside of her clothes, but the money she earns this way is just not enough for her and her son's needs. When she is two weeks short of making good on a tuition payment at her son's school, she is told that her son is out of the program. On top of all this, thugs are hounding her because she took out a huge sum with gangster, Mr. Linderman
Niki keeps seeing herself in mirrors but it's not really herself she keeps catching a glimpse of.
When the thugs finally catch up with her, Niki blacks out completely. When she wakes up, the men are scattered all over in a bloody mess around her website studio/garage. Niki-who-is not Niki (from the mirror) sh-es Niki.
That leaves us with the adventures of Hero-gal, Claire Bennet - and her side-kick, camera-man Zach! Claire instructs Zach to follow her around and to videotape her while she injures herself repeatedly in various ways. She also heals quite magically every time she hurts herself, so self-mutilation is decidedly okay for Claire Bennet, however, don't try this at home yourself, kids!
When Claire comes across an atrocious fire - caused by the accident that Isaac painted - she tells buddy, Zach to roll the camera while she darts into the burning wreckage. She manages to save a man and a fireman pulls Claire and the man further from danger. When the fireman checks her over, Claire has no burns or injuries at all. She runs away before any authorities can speak to her.
I just plain don't want to talk about Claire trying to retrieve her ring - hope that wasn't too graphic for most viewers.
Anyhow - during the 'retrieve the ring' scene, we see some secondary Heroes characters - namely, Claires parents.
Hey - her dad is the guy from the taxicab!!
Hey - her mom is LOOPY!!
Dr Hiro and Ando from Tokyo Japan both have boring jobs with desks at confined cubicles. Ando seems okay with the stationary, cookie-cutter job while Hiro finds his job unbearably uneventful. He creates his own fun at work by staring into clocks, trying to make time stand still. He is definitely our resident 'Clock Watcher' and nobody can do the job quite like our Hiro!!
Time does finally stand still for Hiro, on occasion, but when he tries to explain this to Ando, Hiro is constantly brushed off - while Ando turns his attention quite consistently to Niki Sanders' Internet Web Site.....
Hiro transports himself into a ladies' washroom at one point and Ando is neither impressd nor believing of Hiro's claim. He makes the clock at work go backwards a second and finally - we see Hiro concentrating on a poster of New York in USA. Suddenly - BAM! He's in Times Square New York!
"Hello New York" he shouts, raising his hands in the air!
Okay - I've had to come back and change my whole blog.
Previously, I had videos of the episodes - as many clips as possible to cover whole episodes. Almost all of the videos have become unavailable over the past month or so (Summer 2007), so I have had to find a different place to view HEROES online.
At the end of this post, I will offer a link to where you can watch this episode.
For now - here are some of the highlights and phrases that were interesting from Episode One. The Episode is titled, appropriately, "GENESIS."
Enjoy:
"Man Is A Narcissistic Species By Nature" (Suresh)
I wish they would allow 'Mustang Sally' to finish!! Rockin' Tune! Quit Teasing! (Good sountrack within this first episode). Niki is shown 'working' with Mustang Sally playing in the background. Niki is an online 'escort' or stripper or something. Too bad - her 'viewer' won't cough up more cash, so Niki doesn't have to 'take it all off.' *whew*
Micah is the cutest kid! Micah is Niki's super-smart son.
Claire - get DOWN FROM THERE! Use the stairs darnit! Claire keeps hurting herself and I'm quite concerned about her. But she keeps healing!
"Tell ya what - you think you can fly why don'tcha jump off the Brooklyn Bridge - see what happens?" (Nathan to Peter)
Hiro for Pete's-sake - STOP straining like that - you're gonna get a hernia!! (Hiro keeps tryin' to make time stop - and his face-scrunch straining looks like it hurts)
LOL@Spock's Death Grip (mentioned by Ando, Hiro's friend and co-worker)
"Your last 3 cheques have bounced" *shaking head* Niki's cheques bounced to the hugely expensive private school that she put Micah in.
Stealing socks? OhMY! A lot is happening in this clip! .........she just wanted to feel alive again. (Nathan and Peter's mother got caught shoplifting. She stole SOCKS)
(There was a video here prior to summer 2007)
30 Grand?? Holy Shyt! Viewers find out that Niki is behind 30 Grand.
"How Hot Do You Think It Is In There?"
Isaac, sheesh - what the hell is wrong with you?? Geeze Isaac, don't yell at her, ya creep! (Isaac kicks his girlfriend out of his apartment)
"Do You Ever Get The Feeling Like You Were Meant To Do Something Extraordinary?" (Peter).
Niki is in big, BIG trouble again!
(there was a video here prior to summer 2007)
"We have to stop it...we have to stop it"
"They're here - Among us - In the shadows - In the light
Everywhere
Do They Even Know Yet?"
Peter - get down from there right now sheeeeeesh! (Clips of Peter on top of a skyscraper)
Nathan Don't Let GO!!!
(there was a video here prior to summer 2007)
Poor Niki
"A super hero doesn't use his power for personal gain" ...Hiro Hiro, get the heck outta the bathroom eh?
Runnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Suresh, RUN!!!
Never - N-E-V-E-R - retrieve your ring from the garbeurator! Claire does such freaky things in this episode. You've gotta cover your eyes for part of it.
*hiding eyes*
That's about it - nice start of the season...a lot happened but, as with all starter episodes, everything was left unanswered.
I don't think we'll have answers to most proposed situations for a very long time.
Here's where you can go to view the entire episode.
Unfortunately, this episode 'replay' is only available to people in the USA, but this is the best I can find at the moment. If I find another location that will allow GENESIS to be viewed, I'll update on the blog. Also - once NBC decides to allow other nations to view the videos, I'll update the blog appropriately.
I do believe that NBC will update to allow UK and Canadian viewers soon because there are a number of complaints and discussions in the works right now about NBC only offering the episodes to US viewers while NBC has millions of viewers in the UK and Canada who are missing out and who are quite ticked at the limitations that NBC is imposing for the time being.
